Sciton Omni: Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome to a new era of smooth. At Polished Skin & Beauty, we use the Sciton Omni—the most advanced, high-speed laser hair removal technology available today. Whether it’s your first time or you’re switching from another laser, here is everything you need to know.

General Questions

What is the Sciton Omni?

The Sciton Omni is a medical-grade laser platform designed for permanent hair reduction. Unlike traditional lasers, it uses a “blended” technology (three different wavelengths) to treat almost any skin type and body area with incredible speed and comfort.

How is it different from other lasers?

Most lasers are “one-size-fits-all.” The Omni is customizable. It features a unique Sapphire Cooling tip and a specialized Spritz system (a light aloe-mist) instead of the thick, sticky gels used in older treatments. It’s cleaner, faster, and much more comfortable.

Is it safe for my skin tone?

Yes! One of the Omni’s best features is its ability to safely treat all skin types, from very fair to very deep/dark skin tones. Our technicians customize the wavelength blend to ensure your skin is protected while the hair follicle is destroyed.

The Treatment Experience

Does it hurt?

Most clients describe the sensation as a light “warm snap” or a mild rubber band flick. Because the sapphire tip stays chilled to the touch, the skin is numbed instantly, making it one of the most comfortable laser experiences on the market.

How long does a session take?

The Omni is incredibly fast.

Small areas (Underarms or Upper Lip): Under 1 minute.

Large areas (Full Back or Legs): Approximately 10–15 minutes.

What should I do to prepare?

Shave: Please shave the area 24 hours before your appointment.

No Waxing: Do not wax, pluck, or thread for 4 weeks prior.

Clean Skin: Arrive with skin free of lotions, perfumes, or self-tanners.

Results & Expectations

How many sessions will I need?

Hair grows in cycles, so multiple treatments are necessary to catch every hair in its active growth phase. Most clients see best results after 6 to 8 sessions, spaced 4 to 8 weeks apart.

Can it treat blonde, grey, or red hair?

Laser hair removal requires pigment (color) to work. While the Omni is powerful, it cannot effectively treat white, grey, or very light blonde hair. True red hair can also be difficult to treat. We recommend a consultation to see if you are a candidate.

Is there any downtime?

None! You can return to your normal activities immediately. You may experience slight redness (similar to a mild sunburn) for a few hours, but this typically fades quickly.

Can I get treated if I have a tan?

While the Omni is safer for tanned skin than older lasers, we recommend avoiding active sun exposure or self-tanners for 2 weeks before your session to ensure the highest level of safety and efficacy.

Beyond Hair Removal

What else can the Omni treat?

In addition to hair removal, the Omni is excellent for:

Razor Bumps (PFB): Clearing up the irritation and bumps caused by shaving.

Spider Veins: Removing small red or purple vessels on the legs or face.

Skin Texture: Helping “strawberry legs” look smoother and clearer.
